Here's just a few thoughts generally about incentives from merchants to affiliates based on my personal experience.

Incentives to top performing affiliates are great but I think it's also a smart move for merchants to offer incentives to encourage ALL affiliates to improve their performance. Todays minnows can be tomorrows top performers so perhaps offering incentives for the most improved affiliate or even a free prize draw for affiliates reaching an achievable target is worth considering.

I know I can improve my performance with most merchants to achieve targets with a bit of effort so this would appeal to me and many other affiliates much more than trying to become THE top performing affiliate.

I also know from experience there's simply no chance of becoming the top performing affiliate for most merchants in the short term so your prize is effectively not an incentive to me at all.

Agree with Joes comments totally, and have mentioned this to other merchants in the past, when they have asked me my views.

If its for top performing, then I tend not to bother to push any more than I do already, simply because I stand 0 chance when compared to sites that are already providing vast numbers of sales & leads.

Still its great to have communication from Merchants especially one that has donated to my wife fund-raising event - good on ya Now we just need them all to offer a free £5 discount or something similar for us freebie/voucher sites

I'll certainly look into something along the lines you've suggested for the coming months. It's good to get feedback like this when you've just started an affiliate scheme.

I'll come up with an incentive that's better for all affiliates for November hopefully!
