  Smile Improved Affiliate Control Area

Improved Affiliate Control Area

In response to user feedback we have made a number of improvements to the Affiliate Control Panel. Due to the scope of the improvements rather than detail every change, we recommend that you simply explore the new look Control Panel and get a first hand feel for the new, easy to use system.

Changes to how we report click throughs

Since day one, the Control Panel has always included clicks from spiders (or bots) in all click totals shown. For example, if the Google Bot crawled your web site it may have gone through your Paid On Results links, which increased your clicks total. This gave a misleading clicks total and subsequently affected your sales ratio. As of today, all click totals will not include traffic from these robots and bots, plus all clicks from April 2003 have been updated to remove this traffic. Your click totals are now a far more accurate reading of your actual traffic and conversion rates. We now keep a separate total of these clicks from bots/robots which can be found in the ‘Clicks, Impressions and Revenue report’ detailed below.

Daily Quick Stats and Merchant Quick Stats reports

These two reports have been merged into a new improved single report; this new report is called ‘Clicks, Impressions and Revenue’. Using this single report you can now view your ‘click through’, ‘impressions’ and ‘revenue stats’ in one report per Merchant or over a specific date period. You can now even select to see a full year overview (last 12 months). Using this report you can quickly find how much money you have made on any given day, and how much money you made per Merchant.

Pending, Valid and Void reports merged

There is now a new, improved, single report to view all your sales; we call this the ‘Revenue Report’. With this you can quickly view detailed information about all your sales, such as the click through time, http referral and more. If you preferred the single reports from before, you can still create these by using the ‘Custom Report’ options.

Managing Merchants, Joining Merchants and the Merchant Directory

To view ‘Merchants you're an Affiliate of”, to find ‘Merchant stats’, to find ‘Merchants to join’ or to ‘pick up the links to promote a Merchant’ can now all be easily done within ‘Program Management’. We have also improved the ‘Merchant directory’ and ‘joining a Merchant’ is now even more straightforward.

The Menu

As the result of our user feedback we have also re-designed the menu at the top of every page within the Control Panel to improve ease of navigation. The menu now spans three lines, each line now has a row of links to different reports and sections of the Control Panel. These are now grouped by function. The top line features links to all your reports and stats, the second line is ‘Merchants management and Affiliate account’ and finally the third line covers everything else.

We really hope you like the new usability enhancements and quickly get used to your improved reporting features. When you Logout of the Control Panel through the Logout button, you will be presented with a 'feedback about the Control Panel' window. Please use this to suggest ways for us to further improve usability. In order to keep advancing our systems we rely on the input from the people that use it day to day consequently your feedback is very important to us and is always welcome whether positive or negative.

Thanks from the Paid On Results team for your continued support and we look forward to a long and profitable relationship.

Great improvements, Clarke

Looking forward to seeing the merchant side being improved soon too

Now there's even more reasons for affiliates to check out POR, if they haven't already done so

Great improvement, a lot easier to figure out where to go and nice to have 'All my accounts' as an option.

But this is where Graeme starts to hate me...

On the first Revenue Report screen, the Valid, Pending and Void check boxes don't affect the summary or detail views.
If you select a Merchant on that screen it doesn't affect the Summary report.
If you click back to the summary screen from the detailed report you get a page expired warning - could it be set to not expire for a minute or so?

Actually thats all I spotted on the first use - good work.

I knew this may cause a bit of confusion If you notice there is another drop down menu "Show summary first" by default that is set to Yes. So just select your date range, if you want 2nd tier included and click the button to view the summary. From there you can use the linked totals to view the different reports.

But if you know what you want, then select your date range, merchant and what type of sale, select No to summary and your straight into the report, no summary. So basically, you need only select the merchant and sale types if you don't want a summary before the main breakdown report.

As for the expiry, there isn't any expiry this end, so it may well be your browser, so not sure what the problem is there.

I thought that would be the case, and on clicking round there are other screens you can get to if you just want a summary of one merchant.

I still couldn't get the check boxes to do anything and as far as I know, if you go back to a page that was requested with a POST it automatically expires imediately unless you set an expires header. Eg change the date range and click the button to show the summary, then change the drop down to skip the sumarry and click the button then try going back to change an option and I always get a page expired error. If it is just me then fair enough.
