Just realised that there is an internal message centre on POR and was informed that Mobile Phones Direct is closing it's program.
Was their program ever open? Certainly wasn't public, and I have to say that IMHO this could look to reflect bad for POR.
Originally, this program was supposed to be trialling with POR and now it's shutting down?

I'm pretty sure I know why they have to do this based on their Voda deals being around £40 more competitive than the next best retailers and they haven't worked in the affiliate commission or the overide into the package - in other words, margins are too low for them to make money on affiliate sales.

An official explanation would be appreciated though.

I've also been informed that their main affiliate friendly guy - Ben Longstaff, is no longer with them, anyone got a number for him - save me drudging through last years scribbles?

    Cheers,

    Andrew

This is a real shame - just checked stats and they are performing better than any of my other mobile merchants!

Don't go Mobile Phones Direct !

I know the guy that was running the prog, who in fact wasn't the company owner. In that situation it can lead to strategic issues. I've met them and they're a great bunch of people, however I feel focus was taken off the programme due to non-affili reasons :-(

As you know it's been a private program on POR for sometime. They always kept a huge credit, so Affiliate payments have never been an issue with them. What I understand is they learned a fair few lessons on doing business online that is not the same as running the stores. They want to use what they learned to come back with a better setup that suits everyone. So fingers crossed it won't be that long before you see them back, and instead of it being a private program it should be a public one for all to take part in.

    Hi everyone,

I am still in charge of the Mobile Phones Direct website for all marketing activity. - Due to this thread I thought that it may be appropriate to respond just to clarify a few important things... I can understand why a few of you might be scratching your heads!

Firstly, the decision to close the programme is in no way due to any fault on the part of Paid On Results. - Far from it. Clarke and his team have been nothing but supportive at all times.

Clarke has hit the nail on the head with his post. The intention is for Mobile Phones Direct (who have a new site in development) to hopefully return in the future and offer a programme that truly caters for all affiliates.

If anyone has any specific questions that they would like me to answer, please feel free to PM me.

Thanks all, and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

    Ben
