Has anybody got any comments about the Kwik Fit Car Insurance program?

We have generated over £6000 in sign ups in the last few months but have only received under £1500 in payments which has been coming in dribs-and-drabs.

We have been told that Kwik Fit's actual drop out rates for sign ups is at 60% each and every month which we find hard to believe.

Paid On Results have been very helpful in our quest to try and understand why the Kwik Fit Car Insurance program has this 60% drop out rate each month but, we would be interested to hear about anybody’ elses comments on the fore mentioned program.

    Cheers

Kwik-Fit Car Insurance program is currently hidden from new Affiliates being allowed to join, and current Affiliates last month where told to stop promoting it as we carry out a full audit as something is not correct with the program. Until the full audit is complete we won’t be letting them back on as we want to be 100% sure everything is tracking the way is should be. One problem we found with Kwik-Fit is not the lack of tracking but the additional tracking. Kwik-Fit have been tracking “save and exit” quotes, this is people who didn’t click the buy button but clicked to say save my quote as I might use it but clearly they are shopping around. So all sales have been tracked just we have a huge number of non-sales tracked also (better then not tracking but still not a great situation). This is what I believe is leading to the very high void rate and the reason why the program was put on hold, I have spoken to every Affiliate doing very high numbers personally and told them not to promote the merchant until a number of things have been cleared up, many have carried on anyway. When promoting via PPC we always say only go on the Valid sales as being in the bank, as you can’t afford to base spending loads of money on pending unless you have the funds and are willing to take the gamble.

It’s also been pointed out that the choice is simple, we could have kicked the Merchant and that be end of the problem or work with them to get to the bottom of it and have a program people wish to promote as it has made some good money for many Affiliates already even with the particularly high void rate. I know life would have been simpler if they hadn’t put the code on the save in exit page, but they did think they where doing the correct thing to make sure no Affiliates lost out on sales, but by doing so drove up the void rates as people are less likely to convert from just checking for a quote than if they say yes I would like to buy this Car Insurance.

Kwik-Fit Car Insurance maybe novices in the Affiliate area, but they are being reasonable and wish to get things 100% right as they plan to be around for a very long time and with our help I know they will achieve this.

I've also been caught out a bit by this one. As I posted here I was expecting quite a few deletions as they were showing a 30% reversal rate on the POR stats two months ago, but that had fallen to 6.89% last month so I thought things were getting better and so kept them as the first listed program.

I had found that they were tracking a sale when a use clicked on the buy option but didn't complete the sale and had sent a support message to POR about that before their email. I didn't know until now that it was also tracking quote saves as sales. Unfortunately I haven't received a response to that message or one I sent in reply to the message recommanding affiliates stop promoting them.

Just having a look at their site now I didn't realise you can't actually buy online, you have to call them or wait for them to call you. I'm not surprised this is causing POR a tracking headache.

There are also a couple of bugs; the site won't work in Firefox (you can't accept the terms on the first screen) Also, when you get to the end of the process and get quotes from different providers, when you click to view the details you get the following error
    Microsoft VBScript runtime error'800a000d'
    Type mismatch: '[string: "£354.49"]'
    /kwikfit/QuoteDetails.asp, line18
But these types of problems don't seem to be just limited to Kwik Fit, the whole sector seems pretty poor - my experiences mirror Jason's blog post - and I'm now focussing more on CPC.

    Thanks for the imput guys.

Rich, interesting blog from Jason, It's certainly given me food for thought and we’ll be reassessing all the insurance programs we’ve got on the go at the moment.

You make a very good point here, and we will have to look at the Merchant Performance Stats we give out. The issue here is that pending and valid is used against void sales, if they have no void sales in this case due to the time it takes to get the files sorted between the parties it ends up giving them better looking stats than is actually the case. This is the problem with all stats and I rather not go down the route of giving you nothing and so have no come back. I do think a better way of giving stats can be done to take in to account that you don't always know if Merchant has a number of pending sales and it might just be a case of adding the percentage of pending sales for the time frame for the merchant or making it so you can select a month to get a better idea what happened last month for example. Any way I have gotten some food for thought out of this topic so that's good, changes will come to the Merchant Performance section

I just got the email to say Kwik Fit Insurance program is closing. I then checked my stats to find that nearly everything that was pending has now been voided making this my biggest ever loss on a program Oh well, guess that just means I've been lucky in the past.

Have about £1300 in void now too

Good to see POR suspend them but still a bit of a blow!

    Cheers
