<p>Hi, I am going to make a post of the questions we are asked time and time again via support in the hope it will help a few people find the answer without having to ask

    <strong>How to add a Custom Tracking ID</strong>

This can be anything you like up to 256 characters in length, however you cannot have any spaces.

Custom Tracking ID allows you for example to see if a certain user has bought something via your link, you can do this by putting in a username or email address (in fact anything that lets you match the tracking ID to your own user database).

We are going to use Prezzy Box as an example

Here is a normal link to Prezzy Box

    http://www.paidonresults.net/c/1000/1/10/0

and here is a link with a Custom Tracking ID added

    http://www.paidonresults.net/c/1000/1/10/clarke

So this means that any sales that come from this link will have the Custom Tracking ID of "clarke" and to get this all you had to do was change the "0" at the end of the link URL to "clarke" if you don't want to use Custom Tracking ID's simply leave the link as it's default setting with "0" in place and nothing will show on that table in the reports.

Custom Tracking ID is also known as Network Tracking ID, EPI, Click Reference, NWK, LID and SID depending on who you ask and what other networks call them, but they are all the same thing, just some have more limitations than others.

It currently just shows in the Revenue report (the Sale Lists), so when a sale has been made then if there was a Custom Tracking ID then it would show there in the column. Any problems please contact support@paidonresults.com

We use Custom Tracking ID to refer affiliates to POR. However, these don't show up in the stats. Would be great if, at some future stage, you should show which tracking ID led to which affiliate sign up.

Thanks and keep up the fantastic work. I don't think a single week passes when I don't praise POR to somebody or other

Sorry, another question in relation to this. How would you do the click tracking with a deeplink?

Can anyone answer this question for datafeed links?

There are different formats for the affiliate links in the datafeeds. Examples...

    http://www.paidonresults.net/c/@@@/FM343/343/0/shop/408/Baby-Pink-Chocolates

    http://www.paidonresults.net/c/@@@/FM374/374/0/product.asp?p=HLLA81210

    http://www.paidonresults.net/c/@@@/FM449/449/0/r/p-climalitestretchpiquepolo-1239.aspx

How do we add the custom tracking parameter in these different formats? Do we just replace the 0?

We offer 2 ways to add a Custom Tracking ID to our Affiliate URLs, you can use whatever method integrates easier into your system. Each method works on all kinds of links, both deep links as you have given as examples, and non-deep links. We recommend the easiest way to add a Custom Tracking ID is to just add ?CustomTrackingID=X to the end of the Affiliate URL, where X is the data you want to pass as your Custom Tracking ID. Examples (using bob as the Custom Tracking ID)

    http://www.paidonresults.net/c/@@@/F...ink-Chocolates?CustomTrackingID=bob
    http://www.paidonresults.net/c/@@@/F...sp?p=HLLA81210?CustomTrackingID=bob

The other method is where you replace the last 0 in the URL, before the deep link, with your Custom Tracking ID, again these links would look like the following.

    http://www.paidonresults.net/c/@@@/FM343/343/bob/shop/408/Baby-Pink-Chocolates
    http://www.paidonresults.net/c/@@@/FM374/374/bob/product.asp?p=HLLA81210

When there is already a parameter in the link

    http://www.paidonresults.net/c/@@@/FM374/374/0/product.asp?p=HLLA81210

should we add &CustomTrackingID= or does ?CustomTrackingID= also tracks

    http://www.paidonresults.net/c/@@@/FM374/374/0/product.asp?p=HLLA81210&CustomTrackingID=bob

Either works fine. But generally Affiliates find it easier just to stick ?CustomTrackingID=X to the end of the URL then you don't need to check if there is an existing query string parameter in the URL. So to confirm both the following are valid and will work fine.

    http://www.paidonresults.net/c/@@@/F...omTrackingID=X
