Seems AOL users have not been been able to view or use ANY affiliate links for Paid on Results and Buy.at I have not been able to login for 2 days now to either network!?

Whats concerning me is affiliate links for the whole of AOL's users are not working for these networks either!

Who do we sue, AOL? :-) surely this is damaging the named networks above?

Are you guys at POR aware of the issue? any developments on it?

See here for the buy.at problem

mark can you try Home Page. Web hosting and reseller hosting services for your website ?

Dont think its limited to POR and buy.at, seems AOL have stopped me looking at my own sites! Has also killed my email, me thinks some complaining is to be done tomorrow!

    Hi Dan,

yes, im getting the message at the bottom of this post...

I tried calling aol yesterday was on the phone forever, just being passed from pillar to post.

Unsure what we can do besides leave AOL, but I am shocked that this issue has not received any more 'moans' as I have not found anything on any other forums etc? anyone else read anything?

"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

    Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
    The website is encountering problems.

    The website is temporarily unavailable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.

have just called my man on the inside at AOL, its a known problem.

Doesn't affect all users only about 10% and its only if your using IE / FF. If you have AOL 9 and cant access the sites use the build in AOL browser and they'll work.

Apparently there on with a fix

Sounds like it could be a DNS problem.

    You could try changing

    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

Try adding paid on results for example, by adding the line

80.249.99.3 Affiliate Marketing - Paid On Results - UK Affiliate Network

Save the file, and then open a command prompt and type

    ipconfig /flushdns

If it is a DNS problem then you should now be able to get to the site.

Doesn't help overall, as it obviously only works on your PC, but it will give you access to the Paid on Results system if you need it.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, while it seems based on the replies to be a more general issue, if we had a bit more information we can refer that to our network provider. It would be good to work out if it is DNS related or not. For example, can you access our site by visiting Affiliate Marketing - Paid On Results - UK Affiliate Network? Can you also provide a result from a traceroute please.

To perform a traceroute in Windows, go to Start, Run and type cmd and press enter. Enter tracert 80.249.99.3 and press enter again, once it is complete, right click within the window, click mark, drag over all the text and right click again. Please then paste the results into a PM to me.

I do believe any issues only effect some AOL users, I have checked our database for all sales over the last 48 hours and there are several thousand sales from AOL users, this was calculated by cross checking the IP Address with a database of known AOL IP ranges.

It's literally just a case of opening:

    C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

using a text editor, such as Notepad

(You may need to change windows to show hidden files, which you can do in Windows Explorer - Tools Menu -> Folder Options -> View Tab -> Check "Show hidden files and folders").

Then add the line to the bottom:

    Code:
    80.249.99.3 www.paidonresults.com
    62.190.8.161 www.buy.at
Save the file, then Start -> Accessories -> Command Prompt

    Type:

    ipconfig /flushdns

That's all you need. If it's a DNS issue you should then be able to get to the sites, as windows checks your hosts file for DNS info first, before it tries external DNS servers. As a result, it will over rule AOL.

When it starts working again on AOL, you can remove the entries from your hosts file.

That's probably because after login the domain changes to

    users.buy.at

    try adding the line

    62.190.8.151 users.buy.at

to the same file as above.
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.

Sorry, don't use buy at, so didn't realise the domain changed after you logged in
