    Warning rant ahead...

    I just logged into my Adwords account this morning to find a hefty charge that was taken out over a week ago. I have a prepaid account and was under the impression that the only time my card would be billed was if I gave the go ahead.

    As if that isn't enough, I'm getting the audacious automated message appearing in my account saying my prepaid balance is 'running low!' What a load of rubbish!

    I've written Google a snotty letter demanding an explanation. Has anyone ever had this problem before? What was the outcome?

    Unwanted? Wasn't aware there was any other kind

    Seriously though, could this be what's happening?

    - You prepaid an amount from your Credit Card to your Google account some time ago;
    - Google sold you some clicks and made a "hefty charge" against that prepaid balance "over a week ago";
    - Google are now "audaciously" warning you that your prepaid balance is "running low"?

    If so, I'd say you should read carefully how any prepayment account works before writing any more "snotty" letters.

    On the other hand, maybe Google are just trying it on.

    My account seems to get charged to the card everytime it reaches over £500 on a particular day. Not sure if its the same rule for everyone!

    No, it's not the same rule for everyone.
    But the default position is that they charge your card every time you owe them £500 or once a month, whichever comes first.

    Of course if you spend £5,000 a day, that is a bit of a pain in accounting terms.

    You can ask them to review your credit limit so that, for example, they only charge you when you owe £20,000.

    I'd say, if you're spending more than £1,000/week, it's worth asking for a higher credit limit as it saves a lot of time printing invoices and entering the data in accounts at the end of the month.

    Also, if you are spending a lot with them, you can actually get an account with them with a large credit limit. Sometimes they come to you and offer if it if your card is getting charged on a daily basis, otherwise you have to ask yourself.

    I was spending around £80k a month on the account I ran (not for my own affiliate work lol), and got an account with a £150K monthly limit.
