I just happened to do a search on a generic phrase and noticed my ad showing. But I'm not bidding on it!

There was some discussion about a new match type, I can't remember what it was called, that might be doing this. It looks like the phrase was chosen because another advertiser of the product is bidding on it. Does anybody know if you can switch the flippin feature off? I can't see any mention in Adwords help of this.

Sounds like google's expanded/advanced broad match feature, the one where google actually takes cash off you to mostly show ads on less relevant terms lol

to stop you ad showing for the phrase you can either add that phrase as a negative (but it won't stop google showing you for other random generics) or delete the broad match keyword(s) and then phrase or exact match them instead.

Actually I've just realised it's probably regarding it as a mispelling of a broad match word. Google is excused this time.
