    Hi,

Logged on to Adwords this morning and there was a new message from Google:

"You can now see statistics on the approximate number of search queries matching your keywords. This data allows you to better plan your budget and pick keywords that are most likely to return quality leads, which in turn can help improve your ROI"

So instead of the green bars showing relative number of searches, Adwords now tells you how many searches there have been!

This is fantastic news for help targetting keywords and as far as I can see makes life much easier :tup

would be if it were accurate

nothing I've searched for ads up yet and the disparity is huge

i.e. clients brand name, 2,900 searches in june according to Google, actual was 13,000 impressions in the account on exact match alone

On a main search term Google says 1 million searches in June, we were live 24/7/365 welded in first position and never ran out of budget and it only did 54,000 impressions.

early days i guess but still probably just a relative indicator compared to other keywords rather than an exact, spot on figure

Just spotted this myself, and you're there are some pretty big differences particularly on a few product names where we know we're #1 or #2 all month.

Pretty useless for PPC budgeting but is a bit more useful in picking out niches for SEO than the old green bars.

I don't do much PPC so see this tool as being a keyword tool to determine which keywords to use etc.

I'm assuming that it's just multiplied up from a sample of the data so from that point of view it's probably as good as the old overture tool.

Would have been nice to have a chance to play with them side by side for a bit.
