    HI,

I hope you guys must have noticed a new change with Adwords. Now you can target not only with keywords but also specify your placements.
Earlier, you had a choice between starting a keyword campaign or, Placement campaign.

Now you have a hybrid combined campaign option, where you can specify your keywords as well as placement. The ad targeting would still be contexual if you use keywords, but you can basically tell Google what pages to target and you can specify how much you are willing to pay for each specific page.

I am wondering what's your experience been so far and how are you using this new option?

I've been seeing some success with one of my clients with this. There are a few sites I really wanted to have run their Affiliate offers for, but since they do not run CPA offers we used the placements to hit their site with ads and have been seeing good results.

The funny thing is the site would be making more money running a CPA in this case, they just don't want to give it a go lol. Ohh well =0).

Yeah I know that one mate! I have actually approached a lot of sites with affiliate CPA offers but they would rather have a 10 pence/click Google Adsense than have a CPA banner.

A great way of working with placements is to exclude some lesser performing content sites by lowering your bids for those sites. It can also work the other way by increasing the bids for good performing sites so as to safeguard your spot there.

Good point and idea. Thanks. We've been running a few split tests similar to that to see what the effects are.

I just always feel bad because we would prefer to see our Affiliates making more when they are able to. It becomes a win win for us, the Affiliate and our Client.

There is only so much that we can do though =0).

I'm an outsourced program manager. I actually have over 5 years of experience in the B2B Affiliate Management realm as well. Would you want to set up a time to chat? Are you on any chat clients like AIM?
