  Google Dictating World Trade

I wouldn't mind a full explanation how Google can dictate to the world how & what a merchant / advertiser can & cannot trade & advertise..and which country, just because of certain legislations in the United States.

Like banning gambling, pharmaceutical products etc... even noble (lord & lady ) titles..plus others I have neglected to mention.

Google and The US ARE NOT the world....what right do they have? Am I missing something. Excuses i have heard from Google..."because people in the US can see the ad".

How about getting priorities in right order & maybe clamping down on porn sites.

As it's quite easy for an advertiser to select their target audience.

Hopefully there are more reasoned answers, but we haven't heard one from Google yet.

Also

Why does is seem when dealing with customer services are Google. It seems to be "what we can't do" ... "what we won't do" (meaning Google)...I can only refer to the article in NMA a couple of weeks ago.

Sammy aff is an unknown quantity at this point
Cos it's a US based company so they can do as they wish.
Following the letter of the law it is illegal to target US users with gambling ads.
That's why companies have disclaimers "not intended for citizens in the us...blah blah"
Then some go on to say, you may bet in £ or $ -
Cryptic... "Mailing addresses in the US not allowed"

If google were uk owned there'd be a casino on every desktop :-

Yet if can still targeted by territory, wher eis the problem.

So take something which maybe illegal or frowned upon in one country like "blue widgets", yet ads still appear because it's ok by Google & US standards. So basically Google still call the shots worldwide just bacuase blue widgets are illegal in the say the UK but ok the US. Google still allows ads for blue widgets to be advertised in the UK.

All they have to do is stop certain types of ads appearing in certain regions. The flexbility is already in the database for those regions. It's no more difficult to monitor what they already do.

Take a look at

http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourc...LD:en&q=casino

A lot of these ads have been running for months, so it seems okay to set up a site with reviews..yet hear of so many getting knocked back.
