Use of long tail keywords in Google Adwords!

Hi,

Can any body help me in using of long tail keywords in Google Adwords. I am using long tail keywords for PPC. But after high bidding my ad is not got even a single impression. Is there any particular reason for that?

Please suggest your valuable inputs.

The reason is no one is searching for that keyword

I often find this for long tail keywords. I`ll create a long list of keywords I think might work and things like misspellings etc and then plug them in. After a month, i`ll start to kill the keywords that aren't performing. Probably about 40% of my whole sets of keywords end up with no impressions as they are too long tail.

if you look at your keywords then hover over the magnifying glass symbol to the right of each one you should get a pop up explaining any problems with the keywords and why they may not be showing .. two quick ones that spring to mind are :

trademark infringment
keyword doesn't get enough traffic to warrant showing your ad yet but if traffic increases google will start to show your ad (always struck me as dumb reason that one)

if there's nothing showing in the hover pop up then it could be that your keywords are still held up for an editoral review so to double check that give your adwords account rep a call

Not sure if this is directly your problem, but if you have a long list of keywords, Google has to spread out your spend and to start with the algorithm won't know which keywords are going to get the most clicks, so it won't know which ones to expose the most.

If overall there aren't many clicks, there's nothing to rate in terms of quality score, ctr etc.

So if you've got a lot that don't generate clicks, the ones that will generate more clicks may not show up for some time, because they're not getting much exposure as a % of the whole list.

I've had this with a long set of keywords before where nothing much was happening to any of them, so I divided them up into different Adgroups and gave them a re-run. Hey presto, some started getting a reasonable click level.

Very true.
Try seperating them into adgroups of no more than 30 per group.
Time consuming but can be worth it. You should know within a week or so.

Good luck.
