Joomla Get SEF URL Using PHP/Javascript

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me with my programming nightmare.

I want to add a Facebook 'Like' plugin to my Joomla website. I've been using this code to add it to the site:

<iframe src="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="border:none; display:inline; height:30px; margin-top:-4px; overflow:hidden; width:330px;" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>

That all works fine.

But what I'm struggling to get to work is the page link that appears on Facebook.

If I use $_server['request_uri'], it returns the non-sef URL, which doesn't appear to work when the link appears on someone's Facebook profile.

I need to use the SEF URL that is in the address bar on all my products, aka: http://www.theitguide.co.uk/clothing/dresses/preen/swoosh-printed-silk-satin-dress.php

So I thought about using the Javascript window.location function. But I'm struggling to integrate this with my PHP/Joomla site.

Can anyone give me some pointers as I'm going out of my mind

You might want to try the facebook javascript SDK - Like Button - Facebook developers - copy and paste that and use <fb:like> XFBML tag. I use this in wordpress and it seems to work ok. Not sure of your setup but you could tray pasting the javascript somewhere between the body tags of your template index.php. Best of luck and if this doesnt work try the forums at Joomla.org
