Can anyone recommend a good script to add a "search this site" box.

We have been using freefind up until now but our site is now over 1,000 pages which is their limit.

    Thanks

Try google, they used to do a simple intergration, sorry I cannot remember the page, or just do a search box the redirects to:

    http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...ARCHTERM&meta=

This relys on your site being completlly spidered.

Depending on how your site is organised, or if it is dynamic there may be various other solutions, if you have an index in some format, this could be exported to CSV and queried.

Yeah I know about Google - trouble is lots of pages haven't been spidered yet

If you can use PHP/ASP/PERL on your site have a look at hotscripts.com

There are a few site search scripts lurking around there.

I've been looking at an ASP one which spiders the site and stores title, keywords, description and the text of your page in a DB so its really quick when a user makes a query. You can then re-spider when you change pages and keep the searches bang up to date.

Running your own search is probably going to be a better and quiker way plus you can totally customise it.

Edit: Just thought when you look at a script make sure it can spider dynamic pages if you already use a database.....this is one problem i've had......finding a script that will look at dynamic pages.

    Take Care

Have a look at Sphider - a php spider and search engine - might fit the bill.

I have used WrenSoft - Zoom Search Engine - Compare the different editions in the past - worked fine.
