It would be very helpful if anyone could explain to me how I solve the following problem?

Using Magneto how do i show all my subcatagories in the shop filter. On my website I have managed to get some of them to show, yet not all? For example under the apple category, iPhone 4s, iPhone 4 and 3GS show as subcatagories. Yet I have more subcatagories under the samsung, htc, blackberry and lg that do not show. Even when the settings the same for the category every catagory, they still do not appear. How to get these to show?

It is really annoying me beucase this is the last thing I need to do before lauching my site.
