Dont hold me to it, as its years since my sysadmin days but sounds like you need to turn off relaying.
Can anyone help?
We currently run our own Microsoft exchange server in house. Over the last week our server started to get slower and slower. We 1st noticed something was up when we was getting about 60 emails a day saying sender un deliverable.
So we left it and thought nothing of it. Now we have noticed its not 60 a day now its more like 2 or 3 thousand. The exchange server is working so hard to send these Spam emails that its eaten up all our memory and slowed the computer right down.
Is there any ports that we can shut down or is there any settings we need to change? We need certain ports open as we have people connecting to the server via remote desktop from other locations. We have been told, someone has found our domain and using us as a mail server
can anyone help us out?

Na sorry 2000 was only just released last time I had to do it, let alone 2003, but a quick google gives: http://www.petri.co.il/preventing_ex...m_relaying.htm looks like it should do the job.
