Creating a sitemap - how do you dit it?

Hi,

How do people create their sitemaps? I currently use Dreamweaver MX which as far as I know does not have any functionality to automatically generate sitemaps. Are there free online tools out there that will create a sitemap for your whole site? Or is there any freeware I could try?

I wrote my own in Java that hits the DB and creates the sitemap html file as well as a SE links file. It's called by a nightly job.

Xenu link sleuth, is a freelittle tool that checks all your links. You can modify the report it produces to make a sitemap.

Is this simply a case of wanting it to automatically create a list of the pages you have in a site and tag them with a url?

If so, i didn't realise there was programs out there to do this, i just manually did mine, fortunetly there was a massive amount to do!!!

off topic but how do people find google sitemap does it help you get pages listed in google. I use it on somesites and result get worse if anything.

ON TOPIC - I use a php script known simply as SITEMAP !! search hotscripts I think it was first one. Its free and dead easy. Do you want it for google sitemap or just a sitemap on your site
