    Hi

I send out a newsletter to subscribers using a php script. I have recently realised that not all subscribers are receiving the email because the script is timing out or running out of memory due to the number of scubscribers. It's difficult to get it to work as I am on virtual hosting and cannot change server settings etc.

Does anyone know a good program which could integrate with my mySQL database and send out HTML emails to unlimited size of lists?

thanks in advance for any help

    Hi,

I use PHPList by Tincan Ltd.

It's free and uses MySQL and PHP, but you'll have to watch out and see if your host limits the number of emails you can send per minute or per hour, as some have restrictions.

This software also allows you to send out emails in batches so to get around any restrictions.

    Hi,
Sandman - just wondered what the limit is, as I'm also using my own php script to send them out. I'll change over to phplist when I get near, thanks for the tip Daniel.

    Cheers

Thanks, Daniel I'll take a look at PHPList.

My requirements may be beyond that software though, as they are quite specific and I need special links in the email which can only be done by querying my database one record at a time.

I have managed to get around it by creating several scripts to cover my whole user base and sending them separately.

Linda - I'm not sure what the limit is, I am sending over 50,000 emails and I think it is stopping at around 30,000. I think it depends on how long your script takes and how much memory it uses.

    cheers

Don't know if this is any good. I use their email parser to database and it works great.

Pretty much server dependant mine will only take a load of about 50 at a time (cos im cheap) but a simple paging style script sorts it out you specify x emails per loop and then redirect to page=2 etc until the collection is complete.

very easy to amend your existing code

    Thanks.
I just read my code and as I print out the name on the screen for each one I send, I'll know if it falls over. My list is in the hundreds, so I have a way to go before it's a problem.

    Cheers
