Hey Simon,
Your new site looks like it's a cookie cutter sytle and colors are a tad boring.
Sorry for being so direct. check out other designs on some of the template sites. You need to make the site inviting and push the sales message.
if i change the design of my site from this http://www.freeuksimcards.co.uk to newsite.freeuksimcards.co.uk(under construction) will my S.E ranking change??? at the moment my site http://www.freeuksimcards.co.uk is ranked quite well in MSN for terms like free sim cards, sim cards, uk sim cards etc so if i uploaded my other site to my domain when finished will i lose my traffic???
also would you say my new site design has changed for the better??? page load times are alot quicker and think it looks more pleasing on the eye.
any feedback would be of great help
many thanks

So would you recommend keeping my original site???
or would you say starting again is the best thing???
i was told my colors were too bright and in your face on my old page (http://www.freeuksimcards.co.uk) so decided upon this color scheme (http://newsite.freeuksimcards.co.uk) as its got softer colors
DO some research and see what others are doing. Here is just a short list that I found on google search. Plus add some content so that the search engines will index your site.

I tried that link and kept getting sent to www.awardspace.com. This kept happening even when I cleared my cache and c&p'd the link into the address bar. Is that deliberate?Originally Posted by SIMONR85
no sorry this was not on purpose, i was hosting my test site there to show people but have now decided to upload it to http://www.freeuksimcards.co.uk (this is my newest design)
any feedback would be greatly appreciated
It looks very - well - boring....
I'm really not sure about the dark grey colour - and it could do with at least a photo of a mobile phone, or someone using a phone - or something....
Sorry not very helpful but for me the design doesn't really work.
And if your site is called freeuksimcards - I would make the first offer free sim cards and not talktalk.

Thanks for the clarification - I was wondering if my browser had been hijacked.Originally Posted by SIMONR85
Anyway, having looked at the site I agree that it's pretty boring. How about mooching over to Open Source Web Design or Open Web Design. They both have loads of free templates - lots of them are very eye-catching and would need little or no customisation.
I wouldn't say it's so bad it needs starting again though.
Try spending a couple of quid (and that's really all it needs) at one of the photo libraries and brighten up the heading a bit with a nice background image that has something to do with your theme.
Like Keith says, make sure if your users are after free sim cards, that's what they get on page 1.
You've got a couple of links to pages you've not done yet which is a bad idea, build them, THEN do the links
If you're getting search rankings aleready, try slapping some adsense on the page so that any disappointed users have a way out that makes you rather than loses you money. You can always pull them away again when you think you could be making more off your CPA links
Generally, scrapping a site that is getting some search traffic isn't a great idea, try to evolve what you've got. If you've moved off the theme, build a new site around the new theme.
I think it was Thomas Edison that said "genius is 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration"
thanks everyone, i know the main header pic is boring im working on a stylish logo in photoshop so thats that bit out the way.
i have only had this site about a month or 2 and recieving 50 uniques daily and probs £5 daily thru leads/sales what do people think??? is that good or bad??
im having trouble setting adsense up, do i need a VAT number or something??? sorry there is lots of Q's but im only young and have a lot to learn
If you're making a fiver a day off 50 uniques then you're doing pretty well.

You don't need a VAT number to register for Adsense. They're US-based, so VAT doesn't figure. You don't say what sort of problems you're having with the set-up process. But to register, you just provide an email addy and your personal details.Originally Posted by SIMONR85
Congrats on the sales - sounds pretty good to me.
