    Hello,

I've just made a new website and I was hoping that maybe some people on here might be interested in adding their scripts to it. Basically its an affiliate script resource similar to all the general script archives, but specifically targeted towards the affiliate industry.

I'm really trying to fill it up now with scripts and welcome anyone here to add their scripts. Its obviously free to add your scripts, and if you notice anything wrong with the site then please let me know.

    The site is called http://www.affiliatescripts.co.uk

I'm also pretty proud of myself as its all XHTML 1.0 strict compliant! Its the first time i've completed an entire site to strict DTD and hope all my sites will be made this way from now on

    Many thanks,
    Tom

    Tom,
Gotta a problem with registering and it told me to contact support for assistance, but funnily enough there is no contact information at all on the website!!

Registration went well, got the email, validated, then received the welcome email, but I still cant login as the message says “Login Not Recognised”

    Any ideas?

Email received from a no-reply email address!

    Welcome to AffiliateScripts!

Your account has now been validated!

Very clean and crisp, just the way I like it.

One of my dreams is to build a XHTML compliant/CSS enabled site. I am not there yet.

I am still messing with tables every now and then.

.......you are an inspiration my brother!

    Good Luck!

    Q. Is there a possibility that at some point in the near future every website MUST be XHTML compliant?

hehe thanks, but I can't take all the credit, I got the original design from Andreas Viklund http://andreasviklund.com/ . It was a fiddle to try and adapt it to suit my purpose and all that, but not too difficult if you just follow a few basic rules and keep your markup nice and neat.

In answer to your question, no I don't think all sites will have to be built this way anytime soon. Although you could argue that building sites XHTML compliant does make them faster to load, search engine friendlier (as there is less layout code mixing with your content), more versatile and able to be viewed on other devices such as mobile internet etc. So in a way maybe these benefits will start to mean that although sites don't 'have' to be built this way, people will start to choose to build them this way to help improve their users experience and ultimately make more sales. As a fast website is critical for that.

But don't worry I don't think the W3C police will stop you for coding nested tables just yet If they do I think 99% of the net is screwed anyway.

    Hi Tom.
I have a simple Tradedoubler feed script, just dump the feed in a folder with the script and it will generate a mini site, see http://www.home-office-setup.co.uk/d...t-Laptops.html for an example.
Would such a script be saleable in your opinion? or is the scripting market for this type of simple feed display crowded already?

    Cheers

    Hi,

Well I guess it depends if it would be useful to any other affiliates in your opinion. If you think it would then why not just put it up on the site. Many of the scripts up there are free to download anyway, so you could just make it freeware. I know its obvious, but I suppose its worth whatever someone else is willing to pay for it... Many of the people on this forum aren't technical, so although it may be a simple task for you to create a script like this, its not necessarily so for everyone, and if the market is crowded already, well they haven't found affiliatescripts yet as its so new so your script will stand out.

Maybe tidy up the code a bit (if it needs it), add some documentation and see what happens

Although as a quick word of warning i'd be cautious about putting up code that might have bugs in, as you may spend more time fixing the code for other people and supporting it than you might want to.

    Cheers,
    Tom
