I'm using it and found it a good upgrade from MX. Which version are you referring to as version 7?
Is anyone using the latest version of Dreamweaver and is it worth upgrading from 7?
Just like to know a few opinions before I fork out the cash.
Cheers
Steve

Sorry should have been more specific!
The version I have is Dreamweaver MX 2004, which is v7.0
Ta, Steve
I'd be interested in the answer to that, as well. Heard it had a few bugs when it first came out and it does cost a few quid to upgrade - are there many enhancements that a non-techie person would use?

I upgraded from Studio MX (not 2004) to Studio 8 a while a go, mostly due to impovements in Dreamweaver, and have been happy I did it.
The biggest improvements for me are better handling of code view (more php highlighting/help, collapsable sections) and you can upload files in the background while continue to work. That was something that really bugged me in MX and was what really drove me to upgrade - its amazing how a tiny issue, hit often enough, can really affect you.
I would say the best thing to do is download the demo, use it for 30 days, go back to you current version and see what you miss.
I am on 8 having learnt on MX at college.
I have to say I prefer 8 - nothing in particular just seems a lot more professional than the version the college was using.
There have been a few updates to 8 since it was released so someone, somewhere is ironing out any bugs.

I'm still on Dreamweaver 2 !!
I'm finally using 8 after reverting back to MX2004 several times. I still have issues with it in common with other users on their forum, it's a two steps forward, one step back release for me.Originally Posted by Ste
The display of affiliate images locally, background ftp and library speed handling are improvements, but I used to paste affiliate code into view mode with [Control]+[Shift]=V and that now doesn't work so I am now forced to work in split mode and position the cursor - It's very irritating when it worked perfectly before. The latest version of Fireworks is pants as well.
If you're used to working with MX2004 I'd wait for the next upgrade which presumeably will be an Adobe branded product.

Hi,
How much of the built in functionality is everyone using. I tend to find with IDEs is that most people use the code editor, ftp functions and perhaps one other built in item, which in any case would not justify the money.
I have been experimenting with low cost IDEs such as Zend Studio and to be honest it has everything I need for a much lower price, although it is PHP specific.
Another one I tried was phpEnginSite, although it seemed to be unstable and quite buggy too.

Yep that one is really annoying. You can get an extension here howeverI used to paste affiliate code into view mode with [Control]+[Shift]=V and that now doesn't work

Which adds it back to the menu and then you can reassign the keyboard shortcut and make it work like it used to
Overall version 8 has been a good improvement for me from MX but I skipped MX 2004 as I didn't think it offered that much. I think I'm likely to stick to an upgrade every second version.
Background FTP makes a huge difference and the handling of pure CSS sites is much better in this version. I also find myself resizing then resampling images in DW a bit more since that option was introduced too.
Thanks for all the replies, you have persuaded me, guess its time for me to upgrade.
Steve
Using studio 8 too. Worth the upgrade, but the FTP engine is still a dog. It's improved, but still an utter dog.
The core update from 7.0 to 8.0 has been the xsl transformations, this makes creating amazon/ebay/shopping.com/kelkoo sites, from live xml, a cinch.
I bought stylus studio (to help with xsl transformations) about two months before 8.0 was released and haven't used SS since I bought DW8!
anyone thinking of making the move to 8 remember you can run the demo version alongside your current version for 30 days.
Has anyone got experience of using Nvu
It's free, and seems to be at least as good as Dreamweaver when it
comes to WYSIWYG displays of style-sheets
