What browser do you use?
If it's firefox then I've found the FireFTP plugin really handy as it gives you an ftp application within firefox

I have up till now been using the free version of Blade FTP but recently I've dicovered there are problems uploading zip files.
I searched the internet for a better one but I've found there are probably a couple of hundred programs available.
Has anyone got any recommendations?
They came for my 404 and I said nothing

Thanks Fraser
That is just what I've been looking for. It certainly beats the one built into Internet Explorer.

Or if you want a proper ftp program then you can download coreftp as it is free, it might be a while longer to learn and get used to but its always going to be time well spent and does much more than any extension to a browser would.
Nothing to see here...
i'm using Filezilla http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/ which is a pretty flexible program

I have used WS FTP Pro for as long as I can remember. Not great, but simple, no problems, does exactly what it says on the tin![]()
Thanks Keith and Frostie
The Filezilla looks good too.
Frostie WS-Ftp -lite was the first ever ftp client I used so the current version of WS-ftp was one in my original list to select but I can't justify the cost when there are so many free ones on the market.
It looks like I'm going to spend the day evaluating ftp programs.
thanks

Filezilla is what we use here as well and it works fine with SFTP for those who like a little bit more security.
Used to use WS_ftp back in the day![]()

In the past I've used FTP Voyager, simple interface and handles most problem files pretty well. Easily exports things from online servers as well as remote IP addresses.
Filezilla is also pretty good!
Filezilla is fine, but the best FTP client I've used is
http://www.flashfxp.com/ . It's paid but the price is just $25.
Thanks for all the help I'm trying out Filezilla and Core I don't think there's much to choose between them.
I'm all using the firefox add-in Fireftp as it's quick and covenient if I just want to upload a single file.

I'd recommend SmartFTP. It has some issues running under Win98 (not a problem if you use a later OS, obviously), and has a nice UI. Can also handle remote / remote transfers, useful feature.
If you actually pay for your software, FlashFXP has a good rep. $25 isn't much if you FTP a lot
filezilla its open source and its free

I use AceFTP - it's free and works well
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.
