    Hi

I've just created using a css script a new look to Mumbai Jewellery which advertises Jewellery .TV on AWin.

How does the site look please?

Well, me hardly being the toast of the web design world....

1- the descriptions are too close to the picture.
2- The Welcome is a different font/size to the rest of the site? (which stays with the surfer no matter what screen they go to)
3- An Introduction would be nice on the home page.
4- A short description with each item being displayed
5- would the 'Buy Now' and 'More Info' boxes benefit from being next to the items?
6- The home page has 2x2 same images (I can see they're different carat) but they're all naval bars.
7 - is that 1704 pages. I could only see some one clicking that out of curiosity? (and so I did to discover a ring that's only £6909 )

    Hope ya don't mind

The site looks good to me.

I agree that the price is too close to the picture, you need to add a bit of hspace around that image. Also for the more expensive items over £1,000 I'd change the number format to include a comma separator.

Also may want to consider hiding your affiliate links as it can sometimes put buyers off.

Cheers for that. I'll add the script. I hadn't got around to adding that to the finished site. Also need to look at the javascript placement for the add to favourites as it conflicts at the moment.

Then I've got the Google analytics to insert.

I would consider showing more products per page (maybe 10) so that you don't have quite such a huge number of pages.

Offer the facility to sort by price as well as by name.

I think you need to box out the search box to make it more obvious, I looked at the site for a couple of minutes before I realised it was there.

The search doesn't seem to work - I selected rings, entered gold as the search term and got a page of titanium rings.

The spacing has already been mentioned but I think as well that you could do with a bit of extra space between one product and the next, at the moment the text for the next product butts up against the buttons for the previous product.

I guess that you are using the categories straight out of the feed - if you are only using one retailer it is probably worth the effort of manually going through the feed to sort the categories out and add more sub categories which again would break down the number of pages for each result.

    Hope this helps.
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.

Agree with many of the points gone before. Seems to be a few spacing issues that could be easily solved with some padding in your css rules.

Personally, I would use a header image that focused on the jewellery (the stuff you're selling) rather than Mumbai.

Cheers for the comments. Adding a price search can be done. I'll have to schedule some time to do that as the existing search function will need editing. As for the feed, it's the bog standard one and with over 7,000 items introducing additional sub catagories can be a bit difficult. That's simply because of the way the actual feed is supplied. Too many cross references for "gold" resulting in products being displayed in the wrong section. A miracle a ring displays in the ring section to be honest.

I'll certainly enlarge the search box.

As for suggestions about more products displayed on a page I must disgree as I wish to reduce the amount of scroll down and don't want to have double columns as this would affect the page width.

Hmmm. Adjusted the text to get a couple of hspaces and it's ok in IE but not in firefox. Suggestions? I believe the css needs adjusting.

Tried it but the css has no class in it for the padding so we're creating one.

    Code:
    img{margin-right:5px;}
    should do it the trick.

The problem for me is that the site doesn't engage me.

I take it that the idea of the site is to sell jewellery? Correct? If so then why is the header a picture of some people walking about? And what is the Mumbai connection?

Also, I have a quick glance at the homepage and all I see is 2 frog navel bars and 2 seahorse navel bars! Great if thats what you like but why don't you attempt to draw in visitors who aren't looking for navel bars? What about displaying your categories bigger (maybe use pictures) in the main space? Or how about some special offers? Discounts, that sort of thing.

Finally, the whole site looks kind of amateurish. Please don't be offended by that, all I mean is if I was looking to buy jewellery online I need a site that inspires confidence and doesn't look like a badly designed personal homepage.

Ah well I'm still a bit of an amateur.

It's not the finished end product. That's why I begged for feedback. It's something that when it satisfies the critics here, I know will then be worth promoting.

I'll be looking at the feed to rearrange the initial display with probably at least one item from each of four categories. The header will be changed. The reason for the current header is that some of the products are indian based and an Indian themed header was the initial idea. Particularly as so many jewellery sites just display in their headers...wll...jewellery. I thought being different may help. Maybe not.
