I currently use Phpbb as my messageboard on some sites, but thinking of trying something else. I see a4uforum uses vbulletin, what board would people recommend.

Pay for vBulletin - it'll be the best investment you've made re your message board. Given the phpbb hack attacks going on all the time the quicker the better. With the vBulletin ImpEx tool you can import everything from your messages to your users into your new vB.
I used to use phpbb and SMF - vBulletin is far easier to use and configure IMO.![]()
Yeah the hack attacks and message spam if you dont keep your phpbb up to date is a nightmare.
Is it easy to implement vbulletin around your website. Can anyone recommend a site I can see using it

VBulletin must be one of the best, we use it on www.themoneybag.com, if you want to have a look.

I tend to use it as a standalone in it's own directory - you can get CMS for vBulletin - like the one on the A4U homepage.
If you use something like MagpieRss and vB's RSS features, you can pull the latest threads posted and implement them on a range of sites. My one vB supplies headlines to about 4 different sites - which keeps them fresh even when I forget about them.![]()
Excellent if it has RSS features thats what I want, so I can put latest topics on various pages on my site nice one.

It has a range of output options for feeds, (RSS, Javascript, XML) - there are a few problems with it, but it's fairly easy to implement. In fact I should check again, the last update had some improved functionality to do with the feeds.
