Something I should know but never had to do it myself before.

Is it possible to create a standalone application that outputs a flash file.

What im looking for is that it's a real pain in the bottom to create the 360 degree rotational views of our products as I have to manually edit a flash file that i have and import each of the 8 images and then save it as a swf - this all takes up a lot of my time so im going to go to somewhere like rentacoder or elance and see if someone wants to bid on the job - but need to know if it's physically possible first.

what im looking to do is get someone to create a drag and drop application or a app with a file browser so that i can select and then put them in order, click and then it outputs the 360 view swf.

anyone got any insight into if this is a possible thing.

PHP can export SWF so that's one possible route, the other would be to change your FLA to load the images at runtime rather than making them part of the SWF.

Having just looked at them on your site it would probably be as easy to switch between them using javascript. If you are happy having the 8 images individually downloadable then thats the route I would take. Flash isn't really needed as it's just clicking to go back and forward between images.

Yes we looked at just using javascript and php but the way it is at the moment is pretty easy (it's just the creation that is a time waster).

The way we have it at the moment is that i just swap over images within the .fla export and then I have a feature in the backend of our site that you just browse, choose the swf and upload, if i went the php or javascript way it would mean recoding sections of the site and then uploading 8 individual images rather than just the one file that we do at the moment.

so really just looking to see if a stand alone app that outputs the .swf is possible so it would be nearly a 3 stage process

    1. drag on images
    2. exports .swf
    3. I upload via my backend

Another way (which will still mean uploading all 8 images etc) would be to get Flash to read an XML file with the image url/names in it.

Not sure exactly how you code the Flash part but I did use I use that process on my own site to display rotating portfolio images but that was based on a tutorial so didn't have to do the coding as such.

If you want the tutorial link I'll try and find it for you.

    Regards

Thanks for the offer but i'd definatley want to go the standalone -> swf route , the main idea of it is that it will be a time saver so i'd rather pay out the dosh and get something created specifically for us.

I'll pop over to rentacoder and elance and put the project in and see what results will come up
