My 6 month old site has google page rank 0. A couple month old entries(posts) from my website show up in google search occasionally but the recent posts aren't. Not sure if we have penalized for something. Can some one throw some light on what could the reasons of page rank 0 ?

how mamy pages are indexded?

I don't think we have any backlinks, and google webmaster tools page says "No data available. Please check back soon." on the indexing. (Updated the sitemap a few hours ago)
Also is PR 0 some kind of penalty? any why the new posts are not showing up in any of the search result pages (I checked all the way to the last page of results)
