Has anyone worked with pre-orders before? particularly new console games.
I've trialled one but I don't have enough experience to know what the deal is with comission.
Now i know amazon show it as a sale but don't show your comission until it's been delivered, is this the same through networks like Tradedoubler? will the comission only show up once the item has been paid for and delivered and therefore do i have to wait until the game is released to see how successful i was?
at the moment i have sales showing up in amazon, with no comission and nothing showing up in TD. even though I'm working with four merchants from TD, as apposed to just one amazon uk assciates account, that has a significant number of sales.
any other advice when dealing with pre-orders is greatly appreciated!
In the vast majority of cases, pre-orders will show up as normal sales, but will not get paid until the item ships.
This is because a pre-order is not an actual sale- no money is taken from the customer until the order ships. Because of this be warned that they have a higher cancellation rate than normal orders, as people either change their mind or get impatient.
You may also find that on some networks merchants have to cancel sales from the system with the reason 'preorder' or 'order not shipped', and then add them back in later. This is down to how frequently the network auto-validates sales: ideally the sale would be left as 'pending', but this isn't always possible. In this case the merchant will add the commission back into the system once the order ships, and you will see it appear as a bonus payment.
