    Hi all,

It's been a while since I've posted here on a4u. I actually worked as an affiliate manager for a couple of gaming companies in the past, but having relocated from Dublin to Tokyo I am now working on an affiliate project in the retail vertical, www.socialshopping.com.

It's still very much a work in progress, but basically the idea is to create a community-based site which occupies the middle ground between a social networking site and a shopping coupon or price comparison site.

I'd be really interested to hear from other forum members what their initial impressions of the site are. What do you think of the overall concept, user interface, design? Whether you're looking at it from a merchant or a consumer perspective, and whether your comments are positive or negative, I'd like to hear them!

Feel free to reply to this thread or email me directly at mark@socialshopping.com. I look forward to hearing from you!

    All the best,
    Mark

Bump. Just wanted to make sure a few more people get to read this before it gets lost amid all of the merchant offers! Anyone had a chance to look at the site yet?

Just thought I'd give this one more bump in case people were away on holiday when I first posted it. If I don't receive any replies this time, I'll take it as a sign that nobody is interested/everybody thinks the site is rubbish!

It's a tricky one for people to reply to in my opinion.

It's called Social Shopping yet the design for the homepage at the very least has a very corporate template feel to it. It took 7 seconds for the picture of a women sitting on step to load for me and I don't even know what that is all about.

The concept is nothing new, hotdealsuk, etc have been doing this for years now, just in a slightly different way.

Theres a fair few usability flaws as well, a big one being the search. I ran a search for "Firebox" and got a few results back (some very old results), but everything seems to click through to the homepage rather than the product pages, i.e: Twin Video Camcorder - great presents for guys - Firebox Product, meaning I then have to go to firebox and hunt the offer / product out myself?

The categories are very difficult to use: Computer & Electronics coupons, offers, promotions, competitions, tips and news - be nice to see some merchant logos used or something to break that big old list up. The site feels more functional than social friendly, and the functions arn't always working great, hence it's difficult to give an opinion as I started out by saying.

These are all just my own personal thoughts and arn't meant to be a put down in any way, you just didn't look like you were getting any feedback with all those bumps so I thought i'd take a look.
