Valpolicella DOC Ripasso only £8.49

Valpolicella wines are similar in composition to Bardolino, but sturdier, deeper and usually with longer ageing potential . They are mainly characterised by their sour cherry flavours. The Ripasso technique consists of adding the pomace of leftover grape skins and seeds from the fermentation Amarone to the batch of Valpolicella wines for a period of extended maceration. This method adds greater size, complexity and ageing potential to the wine.

Elegant, dry, and intensely fragrant. Very light yellow/green in colour. The nose is full of characteristic Loire Sauvignon aromas of eldeberry, green apple and bloosom. On the palate, the wine is dry with ripe fruit flavours with fantastic acidity.

Made from 30 year old vines in the Manan valley of Alicante, you will be enticed by the ripe and intense fruity aromas of candied fruit, plums and vanilla on the nose. On the palate, the wine is full, round, smoky and complex with hints of fresh fruit. Aged 24 months in American oak. Very impressive!
