It's great to see more viral marketing like this.

Now what would be even better is for a certain Mr Wood or Mr Davies (DGU) to set up something commercial for affiliates specifically and offer commercial video services at a special rate for affiliates so they can have their own video virals.

I'd like to see a set standard for video across the board being made available by all networks whereby any affiliate can have their id embedded too.

Certainly something I would be interested in (especially since i've just bought a brand spanking new video camera and green screen background for my studio) but to be honest I wouldn't know where to start or what people would want.

Unfortunately a special rate may be difficult as videos take considerable resource to put together. I must admit I had little awareness of how much time and effort it took until I started getting involved in a London-based film company a few years ago. For instance, we made a 10 minute short film once and it took us several days of recordings all over London, from morning until night (my role was to gently push the Director's grandmother's wheelchair around on which we had strapped one of the cameras to ensure moving scenes were shot smoothly - we couldn't afford hi-tech apparatus!). Then it took the relevant people countless 16 hour days infront of the computer to edit it all. Of course, studio based recording are considerably simpler, but the AF videos take considerable resource too. Just writing the script takes several hours, the script has to be memorised by the interviewee, then there's the recording which takes a few hours, and of course everything has to be edited and put together by the wonderful bods at AF.

Unfortunately, when everybody in this industry is pressured to deal with 101 emails every day, it is hard to tear oneself away from something pressing and make videos; there were a few UK networks which said they would start making videos years ago and nobody has gotten around to it apart from AF and ZX. Hats off to them for taking the initiative.
