    Whenever I get an email from a merchant saying "We have revamped our site - the new site will increase conversions, offering more functionality, ......." I dread to open the email. (as the email usually means the opposite for me)

    As a blogger and using deeplinking if you are revamping the site please keep the url structure intact and also the same goes with the image urls.

    Had another merchant over the weekend revamp their site, and unless I alter over 100 posts they aren't going to get any sales from me again :cry

    To counter this I'm starting to do the following as routine:

    • Add another link on the same page which goes direct to the merchant's homepage;
    • Host images rather than hot-linking; and,
    • Avoid discount code reliant merchants - unless there is a custom or static code?

    I used to host the images, however it is a) time consuming downloading, and then uploading, and also b) hits from google images uses up a huge amount of bandwith.

    I do upload some to Flikr, but just discovered once you hit 200 pictures you have to start paying for it.
