I've thrown together a site which basically just fronts an Amazon astore - Christmas Cook Books. It's been up about 4-5 weeks. Normal promotion (for me) has been done.

It seems that both Google and Yahoo are ignoring it - whereas Bing puts it at No 3 on a worldwide search and No 2 for UK only using a search for Christmas Cookbooks.

Why would it not appear on the other two? Any ideas?

What is your "normal promotion"? Seobook toolbar is showing 0 backlinks, which if true is almost certainly the answer to your question. Does it have any links? If so, how many/what quality?

Um, nothing returned by site: searches on Y or G, I get the feeling this is a banned domain. I can see traces of recent DNS changes too, is it a recent buy, maybe?

It was a new, unregistered name when I got it so I can't see why it should be a problem.. I've got another site which also fronts an Amazon store which Google doesn't much like either but which Bing and Yahoo have in the first few results on their page.

I promoted each in exactly the same way. They do have backlinks although how good each backlink is won't be information that the search engines are likely to supply. And I use Google's tools (and others).

I'm wondering if it's simply that Google (in particular) doesn't like sites which are just simply commercial fronts for Amazon.

Is there any unique content? Or is it all duplicate stuff pulled in from Amazon? If its all (or mostly) duplicate content, plus you have no real backlinks that are noteworthy, I wouldn't expect you to rank in Google.

The content is pretty much unique. Not exciting but designed to tick Google's boxes. I'm going to resubmit to Google and if nothing happens I'll investigate if they've quarantined it for some reason I don't know about.

At this point I don't think you really need to submit a reinclusion request. Your site still has no valid backlinks - the only one showing up right now as a link from this very thread.

Duplicate content + obvious thin affiliate site + no value add to consumers + no backlinks. There is absolutely no reason for Google to want to include your site in the index under its current form.

I would thicken out the site and get it some real links before you bother with a reinclusion request. I don't think it will have been excluded via a penalty - just algorithimcally seen as a site not even worth indexing yet.

Amazon astores are easy to rank - if you have good backlinks!
he recent "update" - has had a bit of an effect, but with a pocketfull of good backlinks , you can still rank top3 for product specific terms.

i think the problem in this particular case is the lack of links.

Although I agree with what you are saying I know that there are many more backlinks out there than Google shows. And those backlinks are pretty much identical to those for sites which do appear high(ish) on Google. But I'll plonk some more out there over the next few days and see what happens.

BTW I've just noticed that it's currently on page 1 of Google at number 9. I added exactly 1 backlink yesterday.

    Hi Phil,

I've been having a similar problem, I'm also using an aStore, Except, Google are taking little interest. (I'm only ranking for my blog post titles) and Bing and Yahoo haven't even bothered yet.

I have considered whether the Amazon aStore is frowned upon by Search Engines? Otherwise I don't see why a lot more affiliates use it. Its a great tool.

But I suppose backlink's are the way to go. Its what im planning on doing this week.

It does seem strange that adding just 1 backlink can propel it to page 1 though!

Hi Philthe , I think you haven't done SEO work for your site in proper way.Today seo is itself a new industry, if you want to improve your site's ranking than hire a good seo company than see results. There are many good seo companiesworldwide which provides their services to their clients at a very reasonable cost. I am also taking such services from a seo company. And you can also do directory submission, article submission, smo, search engine submission, link building yourself for your site.good luck

Well thanks for promoting your company but with the very, very little I've done I'm now happy with my Google ranking on a UK search which is Page 1, position 3 - showing 2 page results for my site under 2 for Amazon and 1 for the Daily Telegraph. I guess I'll never "out backlink" either of those. You have no idea how little effort I put in to do that.
