One way i have found that works is to social bookmark them. However Google are notorious for not displaying all the backlinks anyway, you may want to try yahoo site explorer.

What exactly are you trying to do?
Are you trying to get the pages the backlinks appear on indexed? If so, just get other pages to link to those pages.

There are many ways in which you can do this, think of your direct links as the tip of an ice berg that you need to build yourself. Build the wheel and point 1 spoke to your "money site".

Try creating backlinks for your backlinks. It's like you have your site connected to your backlink1 and backlink1 is connected to backlink2.

Also, make sure to ping both of them (Backlink1 and backlink2).

Patience is a virtue. I have found that Google can take days before it sees backlinks.
    But it will eventually.

I agree. plus if you do too many backlinks in one day, google might tag it as spam and your site will get a penalty off it.

Another note in backlinking: Make sure to only backlink in "Do follow sites" and as much as possible post your links in sites with high PRs.

Google will index your backlinks but it can take a little time so dont worry. As long as the backlinks are quality dofollow links then job is a gooden and they will be indexed in due course.

The replies so far seem a little "predictable". Answer this question: If every SEO'er is doing the same link buidling, then why is it that only a handfull get top notch results?

It is not a question of being a sheep, it is a question of being the black sheep, standing out from the crowd, doing the same but better.

I leave you with this: Don't be a sheep!

Well this just strikes me as poor advice to be honest because you have a person who is asking for some simple seo advices and replies like this will encourage him to try and do something black hat. Based on the question, he or she is not going to have much in depth knowledge of seo and so a reply like this will just confuse.

Also as a seo consultant myself, I don’t think it makes any sense.

The reason can be down to many factors such as domain age, bigger seo budget, better seo company etc. Just because people say they do the same link building doesn’t mean they do. Link building is long and tough to do properly and so I think the best results come when the seo consultant in charge works the hardest.

Now I will agree to think outside the box and I do understand what you are saying with not being a sheep all the time. But you definitely picked the wrong thread to say that in. Beginners need to be sheep’s - they need to get the basics done that are tried and tested.

Well said, starting SEO takes ALOT of hard work and not just standing out.

There's alot of SEO techniques that you can apply all of them takes hard work Even blackhat.

For me, I am more into backlinks in forums and directories. If you want to take a step further, you can also do article writing and autosurfs.

Whoooa, over the line I think. Everyone has there ways, obviously yours are different from mine. Horses for courses I guess.

I do agree that perhaps beginners require something more basic, but I learnt all those years ago by challenging myself not by following others.

The SEO benefits of forums and directories died along time ago

I am sorry if it came across as harsh and yes you are right everyone has their methods. It isnt that I disagree with what you are saying, I just felt it was not really a relevant comment for a beginner - that was all. So again appologies for crossing that line - didnt mean too!

No no no no no... if you're getting backlinks from sites or pages that Google isn't indexing naturally then your not building links correctly.

It's all about quality, not quantity.
