Does Google rank .uk.coms or are they a waste of time and money?

    Thanks.

They are not real domains, it is simply the owner of uk.com selling sub domains. If he closed down his site or lost ownership of uk.com, you just lost your site and any backlinks pointing to it. It doesn't seem a good idea to build on a domain you don't truely own, I would never recommend renting one. I was going to use "buying", but that wouldn't even be accurate really.

Speaking as someone who uses .uk.com domains a lot for "quick win" SEO and as someone who is associated with the owners of uk.com I would say that they will never close or lose ownership of that site.

Though I do agree that the merits of owning a domain outright are imperitive, in certain circumstances the advantages of a uk.com domain are greater than the disadvantages of "renting" it

yes .uk.com selling sub domain. I Try to list your website under domain in .co.uk. It is a top level domain ( SITES IN UK).

They do the same thing here in Cyprus... they sell cy.net subdomains as real domains. My father thought the fact he had managed the register global.cy.net was fantastic.

I dont know how Google treats these types of (sub)domains for SEO??

I do know that the .uk.com domains can be great if you just cant register the name that you want... saying that though I would rather go without a .co.uk than use a .uk.com

You are better off with a .co.uk website, especially if your target market is in the UK.

A website with .uk.com is a subdomain and you may risk the possibility of not being treated like a top level domain.

Don't risk it. Stick with .co.uk.

I totally agree with vanecomaccess. It helps to get rankings for some local listings.. so always try to limit your site and ranking for some keywords... For example you can mention like Cyprus SEO. This will limit the keyword SEO to the country Cyprus only.. I hope you are clear with my point....
