    Hi all,

I've been visiting A4U.com for a while and now decided to join and be more involved.

I've been reading about the role that Country Domains play in SEO and how it benefits websites in their SERPs but all the information I've founds is always about using the country domain for the specific market your targeting (e.g. getting a .com.au if you're targeting the Australian market) but my question is a bit different and I'm hoping someone here will know about this.

What about using the country domain of the country where the goods come from to target an international market?
For example, if you were to sell products from India, like Indian paintings, jewellery and other traditional goods to the US/UK market or simply internationally using an Indian domain (.in).

The domain name would be in English (i.e. indianjewellery.in or indianproducts.in) and all the content will also be in English (for the International market).

How would this affect your ranking for results in Google in US, UK, Germany, etc?

Would it have a negative impact in the results displayed in the US/UK but good in India?

    I appreciate anyone’s thoughts/knowledge on this, thanks!

yup, TLD's are very important at helping you rank in your localised version of google. even if you have your country preference stated in web master tools, local citations work best tho theyre probably less authorotive than .com's use flagfox to see where domains are hosted to find new links on .com/net/org etc sites

    Hi Trooperbill,
    Thanks for your reply.
Does this mean that if someone in the UK is looking for Indian products on Google, the search engine would considerer a domain with ending .in to be relevant to it even though the search is being performed in the UK?
the thing is that I found a domain which is free that I want to use because it matches my niche, so I'd like to know whether is good/bad to have it as www.nichekeyword.in
    thanks,
