I thought i'd share this with all. Some of you might know of this technique already, but for the general good of the masses.

I noticed quite a few threads here in relation to how to get the rankings up for certain keywords. I've been following a strategy over the past few months and has helped in giving my pages the required push into the SERPs.

For starters, I make use of Wordpress which in my opinion is the best thing that happened to internet marketing after the WWW.

The strategy: Instead of having to spend my time ranking for very high competitive keywords, I use a proactive approach.

Anyways, using a couple of plugins I keep a close track on the incoming search terms to my page. The plugins help me in identifying the keywords that bring me traffic.

A point to note here is that, keyword A might get me 10 visitors while keyword B would get me just one. The focus would be on giving keyword B a push.

The plugins also help in showing me the search result number.

By spending a few minutes, I now have a couple of keywords that already show potential and I write articles around these keywords. Needless to say, the visits increase and so does the incoming searches too.

Another common pitfall with most marketers is that once their content is published not many revisit to fine tune it. I've noticed that by tweaking my existing articles once a month helps to not only keep it fresh but the spiders keep visiting the site frequently as well. This way my page always stays in the same position if not more higher.
