    Hi Guys,

I have made a couple of squidoo lenses (its taken quite a bit of time and effort) and now I see that I have to get 20 squidoo likes in order to be indexed. I just dont see the return on that. I have made a couple that are unique and informative but for a small niche and I would be suprised to get many people liking it and in thelast few days I have had none.

Am I being naive in this approach? Should I focus my energy elsewhere? I am beginning to think I should find a better way of generating additional links than using squidoo.

    Thanks,

squidoo lenses is the best way for link building, but have to consider that content to be unique and informative.

Squidoo lenses are a good way of getting backlinks however it takes a lot of time to get the lenses published.

I think at the end of the day Squidoo is just another 'string to the bow' as so to speak, it should be part of your link building campaign, but you certainly shouldn't be focusing all of your efforts on it.

There are plenty of other link building methods available: articles, press releases, guest blog posts, social bookmarking, etc, etc.

I must say I agree with you since the Panda Update Squidoo have made it very hard to get content published - so go elsewhere in my opinion. Try guest blogging and posting - works a treat and there are lots of blogs looking for good writers :-)

Thanks all. I have pretty much stopped on Squidoo... and decided on using many other tools that are simpler and actually appear to be having some positive effect. I may come back to it when I have more time but for now there are plenty of other options.

'are' and no they are not the best way, they are one way, you are right about the content though.

Well as a lot of my competitors are using it to generate backlinks I have persisted and I seem to be getting better - 2 of them are now featured, but it is quite a lot of work. Nothing decent is simple I guess.

Anyway, its by no means the only item of our SEO strategy - I learnt a long time ago the best way is to do SEO everywhere, no one channel will make a huge difference.

Squidoo lenses are a good way to build links. To me, they are just another link building tool such as articles, directories, forums, and social bookmarks. I wouldn't spend too much time on one link building strategy, its best to spread out your efforts to at least 3 or 4 strategies

I'd include Squidoo into the whole SEO plan. I had recently started a new site in the health niche and published a few squidoo articles.. went on to purchase a few fiverr gigs to get them liked (20). Interesting enough 2 of the 4 lenses got liked by the giant squid as well. Needless to say the backlinks to my rather new site helped to give it a push.

Squidoo takes a bit of time and effort but once you get the hang of it, its definitely a good plan to include to the overall backlinking strategy.

I've published a few Squidoo lenses but my HubPages articles get a lot more traffic. I find Squidoo is a lot more user friendly but it does seem hard to get any traffic onto it!

I agree. I also posted a lot of relevant information in the Squidoo lenses that I created. However they are still not published. In my opinion, the time spend on making the lenses more informative can be used in any other rewarding marketing activity.

Now I am focusing on HubPages, as they seems have regained the trust of Google. Squidoo is good for links, but they are not valuable so much as guest blog posts.

I get more luck with HubPages to be honest. You can add links to text without having to have a special links module and if you use an image from another site, you can provide a credit to it. So far, I've struggles to see how to this on Squidoo
