I think off page is more imortant as we can target our selected keywords and gain nice ranking plus gain backlinks also by doing different-different task of off page.

Both go hand-in-hand. I hold slightly more importance over the off-page, so long as you have the content, then you cant go much wrong.

Both are very important.. If thesite is not well optimized(on page).. will return many error and SE do not like well.. And also for boosting the site need off page optimization
