  Recommendations needed for SEO service

Does anybody know of any search engine optimisation companies in the UK that offer a reasonably priced service?

I'm doing OK with my SEO but not setting the world (or Google) on fire and tend to rely too much on PPC.

And if I'm brutally honest, with a full-time "real" job and children I haven't got the time or energy to devote as much time as I would like to the finer points of SEO.

Has anybody any recommendations for a good SEO service that will give my site the once over and advise on how to optimise better?

Thanks,

Kieron

Try DGMs own guy for a start (haven't done so myself, but it might save you a couple of quid to start off with)

HI Jason,

thanks for your reply, I have been in touch with the guy at DGM2 and he basically told me that I need to get more inward links.

However, I'm looking for something bigger like a full reworking of my keywords and metatags. Any suggestions anyone?

I offer search engine optimisation services but typically to large companies with big budgets.
A quick look at you site however shows three main issues
1. As you mention, a PR of 4 is not to great. Get it to 6 and you'll see a difference
2. Get a keyword strategy for your site.
3. Sort out your code. Get more keyword rick text towards the top of your page.

999GI thanks for your comments. To be honest I'm aware of all your points made but I simply haven't got the time at the moment to put them right. My biggest issues at the moment are point 2 you made and point 3. And I am in the process of rewriting my entire site to put them right although it is very time consuming.

Your SEO service sounds interesting but like you say it's probably more targetted at blue chips with big money. However, surely there is someone out there who can do the job for my site??

Have you tried searching for a uk one?

I mean if they are any good, should they not be in the top 10 for relevant keywords?

I wouldn't pay anyone anything upfront if I was you, pay on performance only as there are far to many kid on SEO companies.

Half of them think SEO is sticking your details in to a programs and pressing the button once a month

A suggestion rather than a recommendation, as I haven't used the service...

My cousin runs a SEO service - www.search-engine-expert.co.uk/ - so you might want to check it out. I haven't used it and I've heard no reports about it, but it's payment-by-performance and I can vouch that he's a decent bloke and you won't get ripped off. One of his clients is ASOS though... :rollin:

Just a suggestion, I don't get any kickbacks or anything...!

Don't know if u still need SEO services Kieron, but I run a SEO service as well as being an active (relatively new) affiliate. My services are very reasonable cost-wise and there's a free analysis if you'd like it: www.top-website-promotion.co.uk

Lee:

You have a PR3, and when i used the first keyword you list in the header 'website promotion' you don't appear anywhere. If i add the second term you list in the header 'UK', to give 'website promotion UK' you still don't appear anywhere.

You are in a competitive world, and it looks like you are very early on in the promotion of your own site. Why should Kieron take your services, when in my opinion he already has a site that has been SEO'd better than yours?

I'm not trying to put you down, but explaning why i don't think you should get any business here. To get SEO work, you are going to have to have a top 10 position for your chosen terms. With Google reporting no incoming links for your site, this is unlikely. Don't try to get the work now, wait some time until the site has been improved. You may lose more interest than you gain right now.

Hi Carl,

Thanks for your considered reply, however, it's based on the flawed assumption that I optimised the site for the key phrase 'website promotion'. I don't, nor do I optimise the site for any other key phrase. This in itself might sound strange, but as you yourself pointed out, it's a very competitive area. I consider my time is better spent providing services to my clients.

I acquire clients purely from PPC as I can control client influx that way. So when I believe we have a full portfolio, I stop advertising to ensure that current clients get the full attention they deserve. That may sound crass to many but it happens to be my philosophy as I enjoy delivering a good service with attention to detail.

What you failed to notice, since you used the phrase 'website promotion', is that in Google my site appears at the top of the Adwords on the right, as it does for a number of other key phrases, and as it has done for several years - again you made the assumption that we're new, we're not.

So I think your statement 'I'm not trying to put you down, but explaning why i don't think you should get any business here' is unfair and based on a string of assumptions that you've made.

Fair do's Carl, feel free to make comment but base them on facts you know, not assumptions you've made.

  OK

I here what your saying , it would be better then if you could show us a site that you have optimised as an example so we could see your handy work so to speak.

If you have a couple of sites that are number 1 for competitive search terms I think you will have to start a waiting list as there will be more than a few people in here knocking on your door.

Sorry if this comes across as a bit sceptical its just that their is so much free info on how to optimize your sites out there that if anyone was to pay for such services it would have to be based like you say on facts , and the only facts that would convince most are working examples of number 1 listings for previous clients.

  Re: OK

I think the average punter will look at your site. They will come to the conclusion that you should rank highly for your chosen terms. They will click 'get source' to get your chosen terms - the ones in your tags. They will search by them, and when they don't see you in the results they will write you off.

To show your customers that you cannot rank under those terms, but can pay for the results - just like they can, is giving the wrong impression.

An SEO expert that doesn't optimise their site for free traffic, but relies on PPC, is not a good advert, i think. You have to show them you can provide what they are after, your site is the first place they will look.

Some webmasters will also take that PR in to account. They want their bar green. Yours isn't, so your not the right person.

What you think is not important, the way many of your customers think is VERY important. You can argue all you want, but you wouldn't get my money with your current image. You'd have to show me you can do what you say you can, and i wouldn't give you the chance of emails. It's a competitive industry after all.

Just my honest opinion.
