UK or USA hosting?

Hello,

Greetings from a forum newbie!

Does anyone know if it is better to use a UK web host (instead of cheaper US ones) as far as UK search engines are concerned?

Also would co.uk do better in a UK market than .com?

Appreciate any light you can shed on this.

If you want to appear in Googles UK only results as returned on google.co.uk then you either need to be hosted in the UK or have a .co.uk

To appear in Yahoo's UK only SERPS you need to have a .co.uk domain or have a .com listed in their UK directory.

Check that the hosts actually have their servers in the UK and aren't just a UK company.

Having a .co.uk domain and UK hosting gives you a slight bonus in Googles SERPS for UK only results.
