  domain-name-formats

Hi,

Can anyone help me, i'm wondering the best format for domain names.

Which format is better, bearing in mind msn searches tendency to give high regard to keywords in domain names.

considering that my keywords are 'this' and 'that'

this-and-that.co.uk
thisandthat.co.uk
this--that.co.uk

thisthat.co.uk (already gone)
this-that.co.uk (already gone)

do people think two -- characters is definately a bad idea? Looks ugly as hell, but can get good names which are short.

And will msn be able to distinguish the words in the second one, or will it think it's just one long word which isn't my keywords?

All thoughts and comments very welcome thanks guys.

Tom

Lazy SEO favours this format: this-and-that.co.uk, but if you are trying build a brand, I would consider thisandthat.co.uk.

Personally I wouldn't register a domain in this format: this--and--that.co.uk, instead try and get an alternative domain extension such as a .biz .info or even uk.ltd

the #1 search result on google for "this that" doesn't have "this that" anywhere - not sure how that works.

why not register all the combinations and point them to your main one? assuming no one else has a trade mark.

Hi,

How 'bout thisthattother.co.uk ?

Actually, I agree with Eskimo - I wouldn't
even bother putting the keywords in
the domain name, really (especially if
they're gone, already!).

Pick an easy-to-remember domain name,
bit like kelkoo or yahoo or textmefree etc.
