Whats harder?

Is it a lot harder to get
www.mysite.com/keyword
high up in the search engines as opposed to
www.keyword.com?

I don't think you'll notice the difference to be honest, because SEs like Google don't seem to give much weight to domains. On the other hand they do reccomend you have filenames and folders that make sense so it does help somewhat, just probably not that much.
