  getting in the google.co.uk results

Hello,

I have a site which ranks number one for lots of my keywords on google.com, but doesn't on google.co.uk. I presume this is because the site is a dot.com site and is hosted nice a cheap in the US. What is the best way of getting in the google.co.uk listings as well? Should I move the site? I don't really want to risk loosing my google.com rankings! I should also point out that the site is 100% about the UK, and nothing to do with the US at all.

Thanks,
Tom

Just to say I think you're right about what's causing your problem. I think Google checks the IP address of the server to establish geographic relevance of your site, hence your problem.

Don't move your site if you have good rankings.

Best thing to do is buy the related .co.uk domain, and create a different version of the site on a UK host. Then exchange links between the two sites and both sites should benefit.

Are you getting good visitors at the moment? ie chaps that are buying things.

If not then I would consider moving it to a uk server. That way you will get listed on google.co.uk but do run a risk of lossing position on google.com.. although IMO I dont think you will lose much if any on the google.com.

btw how are you testing this ? are you sitting on proxy server looking at google.com. As you do know that looking at google.com results on a uk ip will give you geo results.
