SE updates? Have they change Algo?

I notice today all my sites traffic is right down, have any of the SE listings being updated? It might just be I am getting less traffic.

Interested to hear if other peoples traffic via Yahoo, MSN and Google is constant today? or is it up or down

Mostly G I think, although traffic low all round !

If it's all round, it night just be the weather. Sunshine is the natural enemy of surfing.

If there's a disproportionate drop in G traffic, check yours stats it you can, or your current rankings if you can't. If you find you're now page 2 for a big term on G, you have another culprit.

Out of interst, what kind of footprint does your site/s have? All unique content, some datafeed stuff, directory section, etc?

I would cjheck your search terms.. if one or 2 hits are coming through on google for a particular term it probably means tere isn't really a problem just people out enjoying the sun

also we are in hollygog season so many people are abroad, offices are generally quiet and those left behind dont have time to surf.

If there are no search strings coming through then try some yourself if still no joy then houson you have a problem

Ive been getting very strange results from google, some of the traffic is coming from search links to pages which havent been there for nearly 2 years!

Also when i click on the links in my stats from 90% of the google searches i dont appear in the serps?, how can this happen when i must be in the serps when the term was searched for... this has been happening for about a week and i test the links as soon as they appear so its not as though the problem is due to movements in the serps.

My site which has been effected is http://www.vintagecomputer.co.uk , is it possible that google is in the process of penalizing it for some reason?.

leeky I have had same with google, I check my keyword searches and when I check google I cant find my site in the serps, all very odd.

Yahoo! also just going through a big update - lots of sites dropped positions or vanished all together.

Bear in mind when checking Google SERPS results that it can often depend which datacenter you happen to connect to at that time - if its not the same one your visitor used you can often get different results - to see this in action simply do a search and then refresh the page a few times.

Add in geo-targetting and all the other factors as well and its probably more of a surprise if you do find your site than if you dont when checking back via how site visitors found your site

Thats probably the case, but it certainly hasnt been like this over the past 5 years as everytime i have clicked on a link my site has been there.... not that i do this on every link, but im sad enough to do it quite often :-)
