  Waste of time?

Hello

I am looking for some advice on paid inclusion in the main engines. I have always considered this as a bit of a waste of time as it doesn't really guarantee anything and having a good site to start with should be ranked fairly quickly anyway unless you are caught in the dreaded sandbox. Correct?

However! I have a URL that is brand new and the owners really want to be visited quickly.

I have done some research as I haven’t really thought about it for a while and can only find reports a couple of years old.

Does anyone have any current positive stories/views on Paid inclusion and if so what engines would you recommend actually paying for?

Hi,

I'm not too sure about paid inclusion programs these days
(www.positiontech.com was the place I used to go to,
but think this is now Yahoo! Overture ppc), but my understanding
of paid inclusion was that you were guaranteed to be listed
but not necessarily guaranteed to be listed on the first page.

So, to my mind, if you want guaranteed visitors, you've gotta
go pay-per-click (unless, of course, you have optimised your
pages better than everyone else etc.)

Oh, why not get a link from a site that gets spidered by
Google on a daily basis, if at all possible, then the new
site will make it into Google sharpish (then it's down to
SEO skills...)

Steve

PPC. For natural traffic, get an SEO / linkbuilder who has a clue, and doesn't suffer from "sandbox" issues

Hi Melissa

We always do PPC for new sites as a way of getting their brand noticed. We find it works really well especially for e-commerce. If the brand or products are unique, use this fact and try and get some low priced traffic - Organic links will follow but can take time

Best Regards

Alan
