  Link Building Campaign Tips

I have never concentrated on link building in the past, worried more on the content site. I keep reading how important back links are.
I am looking for advice and tips on link building.

My concern is my sites are all affiliate sites with primary aim to earn commission. Should I target similar sites and would they really want to link to me.

I am just looking for some pointers, either from members or websites I can read.

If your site is of reasonable quality and is indexed by Google, I would consider a link exchange.

PM me your url if interested.

I still like trying to get link exchanges with whoever will give me one (as long as Google-indexed), at least until I get my own network of sites fully developed.

The main problem is the amount of time you'll waste approaching other people, as many won't bother answering e-mails, which is why I tend to just try a link exchange whenever anyone mentions it here.

Reading a posting earlier today ( posted months ago by brendon) seemed to suggest links from your own sites does not count.

If anyone wants to link swap with me please PM me

True,

They have to be on different IP addresses so re-seller hosting accounts are a no no unfortunately for me..

Apparantly Google have also patented or are in the process of patenting an algorithm addition which checks whois info for the same reason.

Google can only know what sites you look at from the search results. Once you've left the google site they have no idea what you are looking for. I'm not sure google will assume I own all sites that I look at a lot....

So you don't have a toolbar! You'll be the one!

I don't use the toolbar that google produce. I use the unofficial extension for firefox which I'm pretty sure isn't reporting anything back to google.

I still am concerned that Google doesn't like sites full of links and also links to the major affiliate networks (which are pretty easy to spot).

I think Google may be happier with independent affiliate links. Just look at the number of inbound links to Tradedoubler etc. I have several sites that traditionally did very well with Google, but have been knocked out and my guess is that it is because they were full of affiliate links.

Where does that leave us with affiliate marketing? Get your own products? Work outside the networks with the independents? Possibly.

Just some food for thought.
