Affiliate Marketing and WordPress Plugins - Can Alinks harm your Google PR?

Just wrote an article about it:
Affiliate Marketing » Blog Archive » Affiliate Marketing and WordPress Plugins

Is there anyone that also uses Alinks and has simillar observations?

Only if Google PR affects serps positions (which is not the case at the moment I believe)

I assume you mean toolbar pr ( the gree PR you can see )

obviously PR ( Page rank ) affects your serps as it involves ranking your page
but toolbar pr ( the green stuff ie pr4 etc etc ) has NOTHING to do with serps

I was just about to ask a question on this. Something came up at the Expo about this but I didn't hear the comment. Can anyone else remember anything about this?

Where are your alinks pointing? I cant see how alinks pointing to a jump script re direct would be any different to normal links.

But I know there is scripts which automatically convert words to paid for adverts, this could be seen as selling links maybe this is what google are clamping down on.

I think the problem is exactly that. The links are pointed to the Amazon shop.

Actually Alinks does exactly that - it converts words to links.

But if it just converting it to an affiliate link why would google penalise you any more than u using affiliate links by coding them each time, if you hide the affiliate codes surely their would be no problem.
Maybe if you have pages of alinks for loads of words it might trigger something in the google algo, but a couple of relevent links on a page I would like to think would be ok.

I have recently started using alinks to link to a few affiliate links so when I blog it converts some merchants to their affiliate code, I am hoping it does not have any negative effect.

I don't know, but the only difference between affiliate links added automaticaly by
aLinks plugin and affiliate links added manually by me is the "nofollow" attribute.

Well, I also can only suppose but I de-activated the plugin on one of the blogs,
on the other one I just limited the number of linked words. Will see what will
happen after the next Google PR update.

aLinks is a nice plugin and I really hope that it won't cause any problems but just in case
I'm going to ad my links manually for now
