The two products are designed to appeal to a broader target audience by giving customers a choice - whether they are renters in their 20's who want cover for the basics at a competitive price to home owners in their 50's who want more comprehensive cover - the cover can be personalised to suit the customer needs and budget.

Extra Home Insurance

Extra is designed for those who've built up their home and possessions and want more comprehensive cover against a wider range of risks. If the customer has more to cover, then Extra gives the added protection they need.

Essentials Home Insurance

Essentials is designed for those that want to cover the essentials like fire, theft and flood and don't necessarily want to pay for cover they do not need.

Along with the new initiative Legal & General have revamped and re-branded their website and online application and have launched an advertising campaign that will be rolled out across online, offline and TV in the coming months.

All of the banners have been updated to reflect the new offer and new approved copy can be found here or by logging into your Silvertap account.

Important note: the commission structure for cashback sites has been updated - if a customer buys a joint policy the commission is £50 per sale but if the customer buys a single policy contents or buildings then the commission is payable at £25 per sale. This change comes into effect from today, 12th October 2010.

The commission for non-incentive sites remains at £55 per sale.
