Has anybody got a clue if this works

I am not sure if the social media links are working, but your homepage appears to be 245379 bytes - now I could be wrong, but afaik this is enormous. I would take a look at optimising some graphics and maybe taking some content of the frontpage as you also appear to have over 600 urls on the frontpage as well......

239KB is enormous?

or was that 245379 KB?

Those are quite a few links on the front page though. I presume these are done through link exchanges.
