Hello mate Dont use twitter for backlinks it works fine to get backlink but ull get a bad reputation, use other social media sites like mixx, newsvine, digg sphinn etc.

You can put your webaddress in your Bio it makes sense

Use Twitter for what it is, a social gathering. Meet as many people as you can and just like a social, you will probably meet somebody who shares your interest and you can invite them to your blog or website.

Posting links on twitter or put your link on your twitter profile can get you traffic but the links are nofollow.

However there's a service from twimbler that you can use to put backlinks on twitter and the dofollow backlinks would appear on twimbler's site.
As simple as posting a tweet like this:
#log: yoururl the-anchor-text

Recently twimbler isn't working anymore I don't know why.

yes ofcourse it counts as a backlink but its not a good practice to submit it more than once.The site is very popular and it helps a lot in promotion.:tup

I personally don't think so since there are limited characters you can have for your tweet and sometimes you need to shorten your URL using tinyURL, hopURL kind of thing. so it doesn't really count as back link.

if you want backlinks go and do some article marketing, blog posting etc.
